This project became as a dream of several local educators. Each school year many teachers take their classes to Wilmington, Wilson and as far away as Durham to visit museums and exhibits for children. The time travel limits the exploration time and the expense of the travel makes participation difficult for some.

A Committee of twelve interested citizens formed to pursue this dream and began meeting monthly in November 2005 on a regular basis.

Committee members have visited existing children's museums
and gained information about the process of starting one.  They are presently engaged in the groundwork toward the realization of that dream (delete the s in the original sentence)  which includes financing, a facility, exhibits, etc.
